How to file a freedom of information request (FOIA)

It is quite simple to to do . The challenge is the correct department (there are 24)

You can apply by the following methods
Letter
Email
Fax
Plans to update this were shelved in the govt cuts.

Information you need to provide
Name (if environmental or OSA in origin a name is important)
Address - You will need to include this.
A detailed description of what you require, remember there are millions of government documents & they will be accessed faster if the information is correct.
UFO documents are notoriously hard to get as all knowledge is denied-again back doors are handy here-a pilot or witness testimony can unlock a great deal (it also shows you have the savvy to bypass the obstacles they put in the way)

Audio format
Large print

Replies take up to 21 days.
Dependant on what you want there is no fee , there may be fees if documents have to be shipped from the USA (UFO ones are often stashed there) this puts many off but some have paid & got what they came for .I once filed for the sea shadow from the pentagon & got it -with a lovely letter from the Navy -pics- plans the works .

If an "incident" never happened then there is usually the reply no such documents located . You can try back doors like telephone bills if a certain govt minister was not where he said he was & the phone can prove it= thats a back door,there are many & as many as there are the Govts have 2 to block it.It is a game of cat & mouse
